Silent pain

The type of pain that doesn't fight. It is just there, it is like an oversize polka dot in your tummy and in the daily beat of your heart. It goes with you wherever you are, it does not matter what you are doing, it is there with you. It is the type of pain that lives in your body saying, "I am here and I am going to stay for a while. I will follow you to your bedroom and keep you company in the darkness as your head reaches your pillow, while sleep stays away. And I will be there like a dull knock as you melt away among your friends. I will stay a little longer until you get used to me and get to know me enough and welcome me to sit with you. I will stay and keep you company while 'till you learn that self-love is the only way to get rid of me. I will stay with you until you realize that having pain and the process of healing are both parts of being human. I will keep you company until you learn to be patient with yourself and until you understand why I am hurting you so much. I will keep you company, not because I hate you but because I want to remind you what it means to be unapologetically human "
